Borough Markets

Dear Food Lovers,

I went to the most glorious place. I visited the Borough Markets. They were magical. I want to go there everyday. I want to live or work near there so that I can go there everyday.

First off, I found some giant beans, most probably from Jack and the Beanstalk*.

*not guaranteed

Then I found every type of mushroom ever grown.

Gooseberry anyone?

There were large figs.

And mini figs!

Halfway through my adventure I bought a coffee and went for a wander which is when I bumped into this old, old wooden ship. I could be wrong but I believe it was used during the Civil War era.

Anyway, back to the important stuff. Cake.

There was heaps of it!

Potatoes galore!

Dried sausage selection, wowzers.

So that's all the photos I have from the markets but special mentions to the many cheese shops and the tea shop that was having a roaring trade.

Adios!

Thank Goodness for Google

Dear Diary,

Today I read a book in Victoria Embankment Gardens, walked around Soho and then had coffee and cake in a quaint little Parisian patisserie. All in all, a most delightful day.

Also, this conversation happened:

Anna: I'm still doing all the touristy stuff. Today I went to a park near Embankment and then I walked past a place with statues and fountains and things. There were lots of tourists and buskers.
Chris (new housemate): Was it Trafalgar Square?
Anna: It may have been...

So after googling Trafalgar Square, I can confirm that I went there today! I went to Trafalgar Square and all I got was this photo of chalk drawings. You put coins on your flag, really good idea!

It's Always Malt-Easter...

My dearest Sophie,

This conversation took place the other night when I offered my flatmate some wine:

Anna: Would you like some wine?
Flatmate: Wine?
Anna: Yes. Do you drink wine?
Flatmate: Yes...with my friends.
Anna:

Message received, LOUD and CLEAR. I'm putting it down to the language barrier...

In other news, you are not going to believe what I found!! It's always Easter when you have Malteser Teasers in the chocolate aisle!! Couldn't help thinking of you when I found this.

Hopefully coming to a store near you!

London: One Week In

Dear Mum,

All is well in old London town! Sorry it's taken me so long to write! I've been a little sick with a cold that just won't quit but don't worry, I've been eating plenty of delicious raspberries, blueberries and blackberries! I haven't gotten into the red currants or black currants just yet but when I do I'm sure they'll be just as tasty. I've also been keeping up my calcium levels with Mars and Snickers flavoured milks.

I have a flat in Bethnal Green! There's four rooms altogether but at the moment there's only three of us living here. There's no living room which is a bummer but my room is big and it has a nice big window as well. I like the location a lot because it's close to three tube stations and lots of buses. It's also close to a lot of cheap Asian food.

I hope everything is going well with you. I miss you very much and am currently appreciating the small things I often took for granted at home, like towel racks in the bathroom and coat hangers.

Take care and speak soon,

Anna Banana
